Not gay, but we really liked the Hilton Barcelona on Avenida Diagonal when we were there in October. Like most European hotels, their idea of a double bed was two single ones pushed together. We asked for a single large bed without a problem. If you have status with them, you'll probably be upgraded to a suite (which are nice and roomy, and well decorated) and have access to their executive lounge, which serves a nice breakfast and afternoon snacks and cocktails, all complimentary. The Hilton is close to a good wine shop (Lavinia) and an El Corte Ingles store. It's about two blocks away from the Metro. Barcelona seems a bit sprawled to me, but the hotel is not too far away (short cab ride) to the bars.
