Interesting about resort fees. I probably do have it mixed up with Hilton, but I've done at least a dozen Marriott stays in the past year either on points or FNA and have never paid a resort fee, although I'd have to go back and check if any of those were in properties that usually have a resort fee (I thought at least a couple of them were).

Not necessarily looking for late night debauchery! A nice clean and quiet room with easy proximity to local attractions - both daytime and evening (maybe live music, dinner, sunset). I can see how convenient it could be to be in the center of everything once it's the end of the day, not wanting to make our way back to the other side of the key.
