I think you are comparing restaurants vs hotel. I can see restaurants having a strict dress code, like at the Ritz London, but it really doesn't work for hotels since the goal is making guests feel comfortable.
Anyway, I noticed a lot of guests were dressed fairly casually. Had dinner at Le Cinq tonight and the food and service were absolutely amazing. The bar was hopping and the Gallery was lively with music.
No, I am not comparing the two at this point. My statement referred to the FSGV as a hotel, rather than to the restaurants. That being said, the statement applies to both, with one exception. I have never experienced the enforcement of a dress code in hotels, but twice in restaurants.
Incidentally, I was not aware of a dress code at Le Cinq, even though the standard of dress was high. I thought the meal was good, but not outstanding.
