Flew out of BOM yesterday. The security guys at the entrance didn't seem to care about the barcode. Neither insisting on it nor scanning it if present.
I was lucky (?) enough to get a boarding pass issued online (BA) and it did have a 2D barcode, but of course as usual it was replaced by the counter staff with boarding passes printed out on their stock.
Several colleagues at work have flown out of BOM and BLR recently and entered the airports without boarding passes the "old-fashioned way" showing a print-out of a travel agency itinerary or email summary of the trip.
This barcode requirement might be something that will just get indefinitely postponed for implementation.
