OK just to re-open an old thread. Last year after posting this thread we had an amazing stay Le Meridien Khao Lak followed by some time in Patong

This time I have the first three weeks of February. The first week is already booked, we are going Back to Khao Lak, no question about it

The last week will be in Phuket, maybe Kata beach or maybe the Mai Khao Renaissance as suggested above.

This leaves the middle week of our vacation and I am looking at Krabi. Not sure if I should stay in one place for example Dusit Thani Nong Thale or similar, and do day trips / boat trips from there, or hop from one island to the next. I have read that Ao Nang is is a hole, I was interested in Koh Lanta until I read about garbage-strewn beaches. I definitely want to avoid places with hordes of instagram type tourists, such as Koh Phi Phi.

Since the first and last weeks of the trip will be lie on the beach and relax, the middle week could be more adventurous. Price range is around $300.00 per night for hotel, any advice on the week in Krabi would be appreciated.
