It wouldn't surprise me if you wrestle around with the various options (App, Mobile BA. full site, App Manage my Booking, checkin.ba.com) that something there will give a BP even if by email. Note that for anything starting at SIN you have to do a printed boarding pass - security at the gate needs to stamp the boarding pass. Slightly odd in such a technologically advanced city state, but that's the reason. You can get a printed boarding pass in the BA lounge if necessary.
Thanks - good tip there on the printed BP. I called the GGL line and got connected to what I think is the supervisor/manager straight away (name begins with a P). She said it was showing as an Advanced Passenger Info failure in FLY. I'll get my friend to double check their passport details but if all else fails, we will be at LHR 5 or 6 hours before departure anyway, so there should be plenty of time to get it sorted.
