It's nice that it's do-able but how many tourists decide to come to Hawaii for that reason? Seems most people go to stay at resorts or lounge by the pool or beach most of the time, play golf. Going from a peak to the beach seems more strenuous than the lounging vibe you get of Hawaii.
In Europe, you can go from an alpine peak to a beautiful lake, not sure about an hour but in a relatively short time. But again, it's not a huge number of tourists for whom this would be a big deal.
What stands out for Hawaii, compared to other island destinations, is how lush and green some of the islands are and then you can go to a big international airport in a relatively short time, with a state capital which has amenities of a bigger city.
