Thanks for the input. Just to clarify, when one uses a foreign credit card at an Argentine establishment, does the charge typically go through in pesos or dollars? I've noticed hotels tend to quote rates in dollars. I'm assuming that if they quote in dollars, then the charge will appear as a dollar charge. Is that correct?

Earlier this year, in Peru, the hotel also quoted in dollars, and when I suggested that I wanted to pay in soles, the hotel advised against that, suggesting that the conversion to soles would be disadvantageous. The dollar charges on the credit card bill ended up being the exact amount quoted in dollars by the hotel.
