The reason for 2 PIR's is that at CMN airport, Iberia relies on Royal Air Maroc to handle their luggage issues (as Iberia has no employees there, that we could find), so that is how the RAM representative did the PIR's, as it was the quicker option, as there were 2 reps there at the 'baggage issue desk' and they each did a PIR, each PIR listing 3 lost bags. Again, this was for our whole family of 6 adults traveling together, but the RAM employees are the ones that said lets do 2 PIR;s, each of the 2 to cover 3 of the lost bags, for a total of the 6 lost bags. In 6 bags were lost in total, we should be compensated for 6 bags, as they each had contents worth well over the 1,600 Euro amount (or whatever the Montreal Convention currently uses), and that is not even factoring in the cost of the each piece of luggage itself, which were very newish pieces worth about $500 each.
Does anyone have any experience in dealing with lost bags in the EU and how the 'Montreal Convention' protects the passengers in such situation and how it legally reads for this type of a situation. We are One World Emerald with AA and BA, if that matters.
