What is the connection setup for a connecting flight USA>YVR>Canada which I presume would be TB(E) > DOM(A/B/C)? Specifically SFO-YVR-YYC. This is on Air Canada that likely will have checked luggage - does that need to be rechecked?

Also have a fairly long layover (5.5hrs) on this one so strong consideration for sticking my head out to the city for a bit (picked this connection specifically to allow for this).

E: Ah, so this is covered under the INTL -> DOM(A/B/C) Connections section as a USA departure. So in theory rechecking should not be needed for an AC>AC connection since arrival is within open hours. And of course sticking my head out will require going through security again directly at the domestic gates.
