I had an Ipod taken that was worth about $250 and Chicago PD put an investigator on it.
The bigger point here, people, is that if a theft ring is going on, the police have to be the people in the center to figure it out. If they don't know about it, they will never figure it out. Long ago, I worked for the police and sometimes we were really good and got stuff back to people they never even reported as stolen. But more often, it went to auction because we had no clue.
