Yes possibly, although as it was the BA operated flight being cancelled that caused this, holding a BA ticket might have resulted in a better rebooking outcome.
I'm still surprised they couldn't just switch the passenger to one of the many QR flights ex-DOH. I've always managed to get that previously with involuntary changes, although perhaps the flights weren't as full. There definitely seems to be something up ex-TYO with no availability for 6 days running.
