And if all else fails, it's pretty easy to take the train to Shinagawa and hop on the Shinkansen. :-). Interestingly, with 245, if you had ideal connections nex to Nozomi is about 3.5 hours to Kyoto. :-). Maybe slightly more to Shinosaka.
