1 hour is tight, more so if you flight from IAD comes into hard stand, which likely what will happen. Last month, I was on SFO-FRA. A lot of people were trying to "Can I please cut the line my flight is boarding?" only to be told "sorry, me too". But yes, in case of missed connection LH will protect you on the next flight. Look up when the next FRA-VCE is.
