Fascinating exchange below from DL564 recently which diverted from SFO-JFK back to SFO. Long delay already, broken autothrottle and pilots unwilling to continue a cross country redeye without autothrottle. Somehow the Delta maintenance, dispatch and duty pilot radio traffic all made it into this recording. Great job by the pilots and a fascinating window into how diversion decisions are weighed.
