I just flew my first overseas Hawaiian flight and was impressed. This is slightly tangential to the thread topic, but I booked this segment by transferring Citi ThankYou points to JetBlue and booking a partner award ticket. The transfer rate is abysmal at 0.8 miles per point, but this still came to a slightly better redemption value than simply booking a cash flight through the Citi travel portal. I also (unexpectedly) earned miles on the Hawaiian flight as if it were a cash booking, even though it was booked with JetBlue points. Not sure if this is normal or a glitch, but this made it even more worthwhile.

Having earned a little over 2,500 Hawaiian miles on my segment, I topped that off with 17,500 Mileage Plan miles, which transferred easily/instantly in increments of 50 miles. I used that to book a 1-way coach ticket to Honolulu next summer, and I’m looking forward to trying the Hawaiian wide body experience, even in coach.
