It’s noticeable that most successful SF corruption convictions involved people getting really lousy gifts in exchange for doled favors - there are fewer gold bars and bundles of cash and more discoveries of dumb junket trips where one wonders if getting a few unnecessary travel trips was worth the loss of career, an arrest, and possible incarceration. All that shame for a holiday… At least Eric Adams consistently earned miles and free upgrades on TK.
My "sense" of Lurie is that he wants to live in a "good" San Francisco and isn't in it for the graft, unlike some other silver or golden spoonfed children. But what do I know, looking at SF from across the bay, from where it almost always looks so lovely. Funny (ok, not so funny) how many of my circle of people (both close and extended) vote to the left on the state/national matters, and "who is the least bat**** crazy" for the local matters.
