[QUOTE=billdokes;36614761]Did it say 100% of the tips would go to "housekeeping" (the department) or the "housekeeper" (the person)??
While I don’t remember the precise wording, at the time I read it I came away with the impression it was not necessarily to the particular person who cleaned my room. If it had said “the housekeeper” I would have assumed it would. I think it said something like “housekeeping staff.”

Yes, it was in the U.S. I should have clarified that. I didn’t mean to start a debate on American tipping practices. I too would prefer for American hotels to pay their housekeeping staff a reasonable wage and raise the cost of the room accordingly, instead of relying on tips. While I hope the move away from carrying cash will help prompt that change, in the meantime my opinion and hope won’t help the hard-working, low-paid staff pay their bills. I am glad the hotel has provided an easier option for tipping.
