Not sure if this is the right thread (so, mods, feel free to move), but I've recently had trouble getting the TSA to accept my NEXUS card as valid ID.
They claim their shiny new ID-scanny-machine doesn't show a photo when they scan my NEXUS card, and thus they can't let me through and need a different ID. The TSOs have usually called over someone who reminds them it's on the list and then lets me through, but tonight at IAD I hit a wall — TSO was insisting it wasn't valid/accepted, was hesitant to call a supervisor as they were "all busy," and generally treated me badly for pushing the issue. After what was probably 5 minutes of impasse (during which another TSO came over and confirmed it was a valid ID, and wondered what the issue was, and during which I pulled up the accepted ID list on their website), the guy in line behind me looked like he wanted to kill me and I was running out of time before my flight, so I surrendered and got my passport out of my bag.
Does anyone else have experience with this? Is this an issue with my NEXUS card (which works fine at the NEXUS kiosks and with immigration officers on both sides of the US/CAN land border)? Or is this an issue with TSO training, or the new ID-scanny-machines?
