There's a lot of complaints against the fraud process at C1, which from a naive consumer standpoint is understandable and relatable. And I agree that it sounds like some of these procedures should be improved. IHowever think of these situations in reverse. What if C1 made it easy to dismiss a fraudulent charge? What if you were unable to dispute a fraudulent charge in a timely manner? You need many of the defensive matters these banks are using. I agree that these are a pain. However understand that the occasional false positive is much less damaging than an undetected position.

I appreciate all this feedback since it enforces the need to prepare all your account security methods as soon as you create a new bank account overseas, if not before:
  • Have a phone with WiFi Calling enabled,
  • or setup a number with a service like Google Voice
  • Have a trusted VPN
  • Setup all security options available with the bank that fit your needs and risk

A phone with WiFi Calling and a carrier with such an option set up will not use cellphone tower signals when only wifi is available (you can also tell it to prefer wifi even if a cell signal is available). Effectively, you are using the "data" from the WiFi signal instead of the Cellphone Carrier's signal. Contact your carrier for assistance in setting this up.

Once wifi calling is set up on your phone with your carrier, test this by enabling airplane mode, turning wifi on, and calling someone. Does it work? Then it should work on wifi anywhere.
