The automatic AA20 discount for mileage award tickets was effective as of Oct. 15. The automatic AA20 discount for revenue tickets will go into effect on Nov. 15. Both award and revenue discount tickets can now be booked through AA.com, not Jetnet. The new process matches the traveler's name, birthdate and AAdvantage number in the eligible traveler's profile with the information in their AAdvantage account in order to apply the discount. Whether one is traveling for business or leisure purposes must be entered under "purpose of trip" in the passenger details in the reservation or the discount will not be given. Only personal travel qualifies for the AA20 discount, travel for business purposes does not qualify.
I know you were, and I understand all that. I guess what’s perplexing for me is that the “purpose of trip” appears even for bookings from accounts not eligible for AA20 or any NRSA.
