I would concur also that it is intended to save space since the aircraft sits overnight in Missoula, where there is no catering servicing. I haven’t seen it until this flight myself. MSO is one of many stations that have only recently begun receiving hot meals on the outbound leg from hubs. The return flight to MSP the following morning serves boxed “snack breakfast” since they aren’t able to keep hot breakfast items overnight out of station at MSO. Sat in comfort+ on the MSO-MSP leg in the AM and from what I could see from my seat, breakfast offerings looked pretty grim—generic cellophane-wrapped boxes passed out to all pax, no choices. Most definitely infinitely better options ex-MSP.
