Flew MSP-AMS in D1 on Oct 9th, flt 164. I preordered the Salmon with Polenta, which the purser confirmed pre-flight. The meal was good, mostly. But for reasons not offered (and TBF I didn't ask) I was served absolutely dead last of anyone in the cabin, and truly a full 20 minutes or more after my partner seated directly behind me in 8A was served his same pre-order choice.

In theory, he'd opted for all-in-one, and I hadn't. But the FAs also served everyone the full meal except desert in one tray. At some point maybe 15 mins into the gap, while I could see everyone else eating, the FA for our aisle assured me dinner was coming, and with some mild apology, but it was kinda strange.

Did they forget to fire one entree when they loaded the oven? The meal didn't look like it fell on the floor or anything (haha). I'm not fussed, by the time dessert was over and I'd made my bed, I probably was lights out only 5 mins later than people around me.

But it just seemed randomly odd -- and I was hungry since we had a 30+ minute ground hold for DL mechanics to clear a strap that was flapping outside door 4R (catering error I'd never heard of before!). The soup was also inedibly cold by the time my tray arrived.

Since I'd asked for sequenced dinner, shouldn't they have brought me the tray with app, salad and soup asap if they realized they forgot to heat my main?

(Partner also handed me his roll and the fine D1 butter when it was clear my food was delayed. He can't eat wheat, so at least I got something while waiting.)
