What was good and what was bad?

GOOD
-Smiling staff
- Pleasant outdoor pool area.

- Very good breakfast (you know you are in France when homemade fresh madeleines and crepes at breakfast). The hotel unfortunately closed its restaurant (which was very solid) and offers only pizzas.
- The hotel is surprisingly very cheap.
- Central location (8 minutes walk from TGV station; 6 minutes walk from remarkable City’s art Museum; 15 minutes walk to Toulon covered market, and 30 minutes walk from Mourillon’s beach).

BAD
- Nothing

Value for $ or IHG One Rewards Club? Would you return?
I stayed at this hotel for one night before moving on to a family home on the French Riviera.

I could have gone there directly by TGV, but it was an opportunity to visit Toulon (which really is the French Riviera’s best-kept secret).

But more importantly, this stay was actually nostalgic: I stayed 17 years ago for over a year on a project with an important client in the city (Naval Group).

The Holiday Inn Toulon was the first IHG hotel I stayed at, and the one that helped me discover IHG One Rewards (then Priority Club) and become a Royal Ambassador during my first stay in New York (I didn't know about this status and saw my profile on my account; I went online and came across Flyertalk, which I didn't know about either).

And what's even crazier is that the waiter at breakfast recognized me (and even remembered that I drink a lot of Coke Zero).

I have to admit that in a world where staff change all the time (at InterContinental Park Lane in London, I'm never greeted at check-in by the same person), it's very pleasant (and I must say even moving) to find the same staff, still smiling and helpful, after all these years.
