When you do a cash upgrade, it does not change underlying fare ( but does change the cabin). Some use the term sticker upgrade.. The Upgrade fee is not a fare change and is not reported to UA and for earning purposes the partner reports the original purchased fare. This has always been true, even back in the days of miles and fare class earning days.
