A night in New York is really going to push up the cost and, thus, the £/TP ratio.
Unless you're determined to squeeze every last TP out of the trip, flying directly from DUB to the US rather than via LHR will usually get you to PSP on the same day, and you'll have the benefit of pre-clearance, for the loss of 40 TPs.
