In my thousands of stays at Hyatt and Marriott properties, this has been a rare occurrence (though it’s somewhat more common at properties in Asia). Just a heads-up for anyone this may affect.
This is extremely common at high-end properties in Japan, to the point that you should expect to show proof that you're eligible for a corporate rate and treat it as a pleasant surprise if you're not.
