I think Madagascar is lost as a wildlife destination due to a catastrophic deforestation programme, so you are left with lemur reserves.
love the spafari comment! heading to Madagascar in a couple weeks, yes it does look like more lemur reserves and a hike through one park is what i've got in store for lemurs. its just a quick add on to a trip to south africa. i had the same sentiments about the safari experience in SA and will be skipping it altogether.

DRC seems perhaps a bit too adventitious for us, but curious about Gabon. Also have had my eye on republic of congo for some time. Camp there now called Kamba seems quite nice.
