SANITY CHECK - at a realistic opportunity cost of GBP5000 for this challenge I can order enough QF wine to generate 800,000 QF FF points with ZERO RISK. Those points can be easily redeemed not just on oneworld airlines, but some SkyTeam partners such as Air France and KLM, not to mention Emirates, Air Tahiti Nui, etc. My wife and I get to drink the wine...
Some of the itineraries above simply may not work they assume perfect run, that certain airline earn will be counted (when that's not guaranteed), that retrospective claims will ru smoothly and some totally ignore the timelines for making such claims.
Just what redemptions are these folk going to target even if they pull it off?!
Absolutely mental. Even for FT standards of stupidity.
1) Are we sure QF miles are as valuable or more valuable than SAS miles. Many posts here about the redemptions people are interested in (TATL TCONs). The idea that QF miles can be *easily* redeemed on partners ... you must have access to different QF miles than I do.
2) A solution that is available to Australians isn't necessarily available to the rest of the world.
3) Not sure everyone coming up with solutions here is actually going to fly them. Some are, of course, but many others have posted about the idea being more fun than actually attempting it.
4) There are *plenty* of posters mentioning concerns about fare classes, retro claims, etc. We're learning about how SAS's program works, how to book specific fare classes in different programs, etc. All of that is useful to the community in the big picture.
5) FT users don't always act optimally or even close to optimally. How many people on the DL forum have devoted spend on their CCs to earn 1.2 cents/point when there are widely-accessible cards available at 2 cents/point available?
6) If you're so concerned about the FT community, why not share your trick to generate all these QF miles by buying wine as opposed to DMing it to people?
