Any indication of cause? I note another post referenced fog, but other flights still seem to be going ok?
I was due to fly from Dubai at 01:05 this morning (BA0106) before catching a connecting flight to Glasgow (BA1472).
I found out by chance last night that the Glasgow flight this morning was cancelled. I wasn’t contacted by anyone to inform me of this prior to attending the airport, but luckily happened upon the information in the BA app before leaving accommodation. The only reason I got for cancellation after engaging with BA was ‘operational issues.’
Expected that I would be moved to a later connecting flight, but when spoke with BA ‘customer support’ they booked me on to BA0104 to London Heathrow this afternoon (leaving Dubai at 12:05) with a later connecting flight to Glasgow.
When I asked why I couldn’t keep my original flight and catch a later connecting flight I was told the first available flight from Heathrow to Glasgow wasn’t until 18:15.
So basically my options were:
1. Leave Dubai at 01:05 and arrive in London around 06:00, then wait 12 hours before catching the 18:15 to Glasgow.
2. Be rebooked on to a later flight to Heathrow (BA0104 leaving Dubai at 12:05) and then catch the 18:15 to Glasgow.
Obviously took the later option, but either way it was an 11-12 hour delay.
Never experienced any issues travelling before so trying to get to grips with claim process and prospect of success for compensation. Presumably BA will look to avoid responsibility and may cite fog - but not clear how they can make this case when multiple other flights are leaving as planned and the decision was taken to cancel my flight at least 12 hours prior and without communicating to travellers.
Thanks
