We extend a limited number of invitations annually to select MileagePlus Premier® members based on their outstanding United® and United Express® flight activity over the past several years. Unlike Premier status qualification, eligibility for United Global Services is not measured by the number of Premier qualifying points earned, but instead on several other criteria. Members who receive United Global Services invitations tend to increase their flight activity each year, fly in premium cabins, and purchase fully refundable tickets all exclusively on United. MileagePlus members directly influence the annual criteria, as we compare activity amongst our top fliers. Achieving status is increasingly competitive each year, and previously holding United Global Services status doesn’t guarantee a future invitation.
I have found the first sentence and last sentence contradicted each other unless United is making a point that each year is a standalone evaluation without considering HVFs' loyalty from the past in the current year assessment.
The use of "
purchase fully refundable tickets all exclusively on United" is also interesting. Does this mean the the flight segments need to be ticked on UA 016 stock instead of just flying on United metals?
There were a couple of years when I qualified for GS mostly based on flying RTW Business Class itineraries including many UA operated segments, but tickets were issue by LH, SQ, NH and CA. Does this new language mean the tickets have to be bought through United in addition to flying United metals?
