By the way, this is completely unrelated, but the Inflight Entertainment System was also experiencing "mechanical difficulties", and for the first time that I can recall, money had to be refunded to those PAXs who purchased headsets in the main cabin.
I've flown the MIA-DFW-LAX 777's
a lot and usually get the same
aircraft tail number. While I have not experienced the massive problems
of the OP, there have been "issues" with the seat control panel
falling off (left armrest) and exposing all of the wires (which may short
out if the armrest is not put back into place carefully - built really
cheap). Also, the IFE has a propensity to not work on more than an
infrequent basis (according to some of the FA's I've spoken with), and
the swivel locks are a universal problem on
every flight to some
extent. The suites are nice, but AA got taken for a ride if they really
paid $40K for each one. Let's not even talk about the headset jacks.
One time I boarded and found 3J in the upright and forward locked
position, but with the seatbelt trapped between the side of the seat
and the footrest. Took two FA's and myself to figure out how to
unlock the seat, and extend the footrest, so the seatbelt could be
extricated. Lots of fun.
