You're only able to combine AA codeshares on AS in combination with other AA flights, AA can't sell you a wholly AS operated itinerary. Based on some quick searches, the AS codeshare options are in the $1500 range vs the $150 range for equivalent all-AA itineraries (looking at AA hub to SEA via MCI, STL, etc)

You don't list where you're based, but I would recommend looking at somewhere that only AS flies, such as JNU or FAI, and connect via SEA on AA, then AS to Alaska.
