That said, as the San Antonio metro expands north and the Austin metro area expands south, the metro areas are on the verge of :just combining into one giant metro area along the I-35 corridor.

And you will likely get a bunch of mediocre yielding flow too since SAT's pricing structure is pretty trashed by LCC competition.
Will just have to wait and see. The GSA City Pair fare on DFW-DCA is $400 one-way on AA this FY (and BWI is $401, also on AA). As another data point, WN gets $392 one-way on DAL-DCA and $497 on DAL-BWI for this FY. So I could easily see a $300-$400 or more bid by AA for DCA-SAT on its GSA City Pair fare bid for FY26.
I think AA's biggest issue on this route will be how many people walk up to the scanner when "Military Boarding" is called.
