This is correct, and yes, I am pretty sure the other issue you mentioned about paid upgrades not showing up in "pending" has also been the case since they introduced this.
Honestly, for someone like you who buys a lot of tickets through partners and credits to DL, I would not even bother looking at "pending" at all, it's almost guaranteed to mislead you more than it helps.
I do not like this new system. I constantly have to look what booking class I am buying and it it earns 5 % or 10 % of MQD and then figure out how much it actually is -- based on comparing with my previous earnings. To me, the new system is not transparent at all and it is rather demotivating.
well, you're in a very small percentage of DL customers, they're definitely not optimizing (or probably even testing) for your use case. Crediting partner flights to DL has always been pretty dodgy and confusing. US-based DL flyers crediting partner flights have had this exact MQD calculation frustration since MQD was introduced (how long has that been, 10 years? probably more?)
