The place to stay is Sooke Harbour House,. The owners (Wiffenspitt) live on site are European and are committed to growing their own food. It isn't cheap but it sure meets all of your expectations - relaxing, caring, and inclusive.
Correction. The people (the Phillips) who started the place lost ownership a few years ago due to fraud (by someone named Timothy Durkin). It's currently owned by a development co. named IAG Enterprises (not affiliated to Int'l Airline Group) The company has spent a lot of time and money updating the place. It's been closed for several years but supposedly will reopen/relaunch soon.
