Something that has worked for me on several occasions when both the app and ba.com fail several times over is to click on the mobile ba.com tab on the app index. This has then worked instantly for me two or three times in a row.
This worked again today. I had checked in ok on BA.com but it would not ‘at this time’ allow me to download the boarding card. ‘Please try later’ etc about half a dozen times. Therefore I went onto the app and clicked on mobile BA.com in the index, retrieved the booking and immediately had the several options offered to collect the boarding pass. I chose to email it and then printed it from the email.
