Garuda Domestic Baggage allowance Q
Trying to parse the Garuda baggage allowance page and could use some real life experience input on implementation.
Situation:
My husband and I are flying in to CGK on a separate PNR, airline and different alliance and connecting to Garuda for a domestic flight to Sorong.
It looks like the economy allowance is 20kg per person in one bag. No problem understand that.
We bid for upgrade but no guarantee on that so won't assume it
Now where I get lost in their table and footnotes:
We booked several months ago using our Delta Airlines FF numbers.
I recently did a status match to Delta and now am a SkyTeam Elite Plus level through Delta.
First question: So, as I understand it, that means I get an extra 20kg for one piece of baggage. No additional bag though.
If I understand this correctly, it means if we have 2 checked bags between us on this reservation, only ONE piece of baggage gets the extra 20kg (for a total of 40kg since only I have the status)? or would both pieces?
Also, if I understand, I still only get one checked bag so we couldn't put both bags under my name like we do with OneWorld airlines. Correct?
Next question: Will Garuda know that I now have status since I did not have it when I booked? I do have the FF card in my iphone wallet that shows status. Would that be enough for the checkin agents if there is a problem?
Basically, I want to pack for the worst case scenario but it's a longish trip and staying under 20kg in both checked bags with fins, masks, snorkels etc may be tough. I dont think we could consider the mask and fins "scuba gear" for this trip which appears to come in a different baggage category
TIA
