I find being in the Bay Area PP options are fine, even without restaurants (which I never used, anyway). SFO has The Club (I realize that’s pretty new also), as well as Virgin, etc., and now that you can walk airside around the entire airport, they are all accessible no matter who you are flying. While I would like to use the MLL, truth is, I’m normally with family so The Club is still best for us - MLL won’t be much of an option. SJC has The Club and OAK has Aspire, which I think is accessible? SAN has an option (is it a Club?). Not sure about other airports though - LAX is lacking for sure. Not sure what PDX/SEA have these days.

AC site specifically lists CSR and not Reserve. So you might be shocked. Guess someone on here could be a guinea pig?

many of the MLLs, at least in Canada, can get crowded at peak times. If you’ve ever tried to get out of the YYZ Transborder MLL early - mid morning, you’ll know what I mean. I suspect it has to do with controlling capacity. I wonder if that’s why YUL lounges were excluded (though I’ll admit YUL is not a common destination so have no idea if those locations are specifically more crowded than others).
Along with that, there’s budget, as I’m sure AC gets whatever reimbursement rate is negotiated per pax, and they don’t want to spend the world. Much like Amex cutting guest access has basically completely stopped me from being able to sue their lounges unless I’m traveling on my own (wife had access also, but it’s not worth the $30/kid fee for us to enter in top of that).
seems CSR AUs would get access as well, so seems pretty similar to Amex rules.
