Yes. This very thing happened to my wife a few days ago. She sent me a link from her Ink Preferred back in late July that I used to sign up for an Ink Cash card. She soon after closed her Ink Preferred but still retained her own Ink Cash. After waiting eight weeks with no referral bonus she contacted customer service. They were able to find the referral bonus and that it was credited to a closed account. They then escalated it to another group, whose name slips my mind, and told her that she would receive a decision letter within one week. Four days later she logged into her Ink account and saw there was a 40,000 UR points "Adjustment".
She has since transferred all of her points, including the 40,000 point adjustment, to her Sapphire Preferred card and then onto British Airways to take advantage of the 30% bonus transfer.
