I see your point but that rather supposes that those wanting a conventional lunch, as has been the case up to now, are happy essentially having no choice. And yes, as has been discussed before, it is a known fact that BA does not load up to 100% of the options for each seat booked. So unless your you are Gold or some other reasonable level of status, you could easily wind up with less than your first choice; at least when there was a proper lunch menu, your fall back option would be something more exciting than eggs on toast or pancakes.

Lord knows what this is going to look like in Club where there are only 3 mains options as it is, and where afternoon tea is even more miserable than F.

I'd be surprised if this lasts long, but then if you do want F BA is the last man standing now that AA if off the scene, so BA don't really have to make too much of an effort. It's called a monopoly (in F).
