Tecknically you are right about DL short changing their own elites, but one also have include DL's business model in to that equation, which is more them being a CC partner then an airline.
Everybody and their neighbour have access to the Skylounges with CC. I mean with the lines I at times have seen in JFK T4 the only ones who are short changed are ST E+ that actually flies for status and are not eligible for a US CC.
