Wow SK, thats like cheap with a frosting of cheap on top! But then again, when one has worked so hard on making a LCC image, one are reluctant to let all the good work go to waste.
In the article they came with the example of DL domestic lounge access and forgot that ST E+ only have domestic lounge access when there are a international connection involved in the itinerary.
US(DL) dom. to dom. one are out of luck as ST E+ aswell and then they have the within one day rule meaning that if ones connction is after 12am one are not eligible for lounge access even when connecting Internationally and the trip is in one itinerary. That rule makes for lots of dragon "entertainment", as most for good reason wouldn't dream that DL/ST could be so stupid to make up a rule like that for an alliance that operates over all time zones, even if it is seldomly a problem for most travellers.
Delta does not even give lounge access for main cabin or comfort + to Platinum and Diamond Medallion on international flights. You need to be in Premium Select international to get status based lounge access in Delta's own lounges. So SkyTeam does have a tradition for airlines short changing their own members, SK just fits right in.
