I totally am with you on that.
But I was talking about those affected by penalties. They are not being given details, either. And the program terms are extremely restrictive for the member. The program operator reserves all the limitations, chooses court of law and forum, has the sole right over interpretation of the T&C to the maximum extent allowed by law etc.
Again, if Marriott had 5% market share and Hyatt 2%, I'd be cool with it. But in many places, your sole option is a chain hotel--your decision is entirely take-it-or-leave-it, use the program or don't.
