From that perspective this place was a steal and I am happy with what I got but I'd be far less enamored with it if I had been paying the going rate. I had four interactions with the front desk and I always had to wait at least 10 minutes. The line was always 3-5 deep with one or two staff helping folks. The food even by hotel standards is fairly overpriced. I thought as a solo traveler I'd make decent use of the $35 destination fee "food credit" by buying something cheap from room service. But after a 17% service charge (expected) and a fixed $10 concession fee (not expected) you are going to drop $62-63 on a burger and fries and nothing else. So at least for me room service is not a good use of the "credit".

I am a Marriott Plat which get a $25 breakfast credit. That will get you a cold breakfast buffet (though you'll still be on the hook for the 17% service charge) that honestly was only marginally better than what you would get for free at a lower end property. I would say it is on par with the free breakfast everyone gets when staying at the Hyatt Place in Jersey City (where I have been multiple times). If you want oatmeal you only get that by going up to the $50 American buffet (which also included waffles or pancakes (on alternate days), hash browns and sausages). The oatmeal was fine but the one day I tried the French toast is was pretty meh (considering it was part of a $50 breakfast). One good thing was they just gave me a $105 credit on my bill (they didn't try to break it out day by day).

On check out I had to get them to manually credit me the breakfast credit, they didn't give me any problem with this but they had already charged by card before showing the bill to me and so had to issue a refund to my card as well. I recommend you get a print out of the bill to review carefully. Also I didn't get any sort of room upgrade, I didn't expect any "real" upgrade but I didn't get a higher floor room or anything. My room, eh suite, was basically on the lowest or second lowest floor. Again for 34k points I have zero complaints it was bargain and I easily got my money's (points) worth out of it but I won't be back in a hurry at the current rates.

This is an important review. Older reviews from June suggested that the breakfast was not a $25 flat credit but was actually straight up covered (tip and everything). Most people said that they never had to pay a penny for the breakfast or the tip. Are you saying you were actually on the hook for the full receipt price minus $25?
