I’m still bummed I got bupkis when getting to 1MM years ago, no coin, no nothing.. and as others have noted about getting “congrats on 30 years of UA flying and membership” I got nothing at FORTY YEARS and counting.
Maybe it’s because, and no offense, gender based? I would put the numbers of XX reaching 1MM vs XY probably at less than 20% overall, and lower numbers at higher statuses (this is just guessing, but thinking about how our society works, family works, business works, etc., but I am a superforcaster)
The most important thing is that she had a REALLY GREAT experience and for that someone/s at UAL should be commended and encouraged to further this experience going forward.
I see two possible explanations for the erratic way that the MillionMiler milestones seem to be acknowledged: the process may truly be haphazard, hit-or-miss, and reliant on the initiative of already overtaxed employees. Alternatively, it may be triggered by the spending patterns of the given customer. If you hit the milestone by flying, for the most part, cheap coach fares, no whoop for you!
