Thumbs down Is there any consistency re toll free phone charges, SPG brand by brand?

I stayed this week at 2 Sheratons in the USA. One charged $1.75 (+ tax IIRC) per 800 call and the other had them free up to an hour.

Seeing the $1.75 hotel was where I needed to make quite a few calls it added $10-$15 to my bill.

These charges never seem evident up-front on websites when you book, and if a Sheraton and a Hilton are together at an airport at same rate, $15 can swing the way you book. Well the way I book for sure, as it is on my dime.

If there was a firm policy that all USA Four Points had free 800 calls, and all Sheratons did not, (as other major brand hotel sub groups often have as firm policy) at least there is some consistency, and you then know up front, but it does appear to me right now there is none. Or am I missing something?
