However, that's only one scenario. One which has never happened to me (I don't fly as much as others and have a smaller sample to work with). Even when I physically ran thriough Istanbul Airport because a late-running plane left me with 20 minutes to make a connection. Returning to topic, in that particular scenario the tight transfer time is no longer of any relevance.
The scenario I'm more interested in is where the airline has not bumped the passenger off the flight, or we don't yet know if this will happen because the flight is yet to happen. I think in those situations, the different amount of time and likelihood of getting lost for a person who knows the route is less than someone who doesn't know the route is relevant.
I don't want to wander away from Emirates in this forum. But I did search and found quite a few people having problems finding routes in airports around the world. The staff in Terminal 3 in Dubai were friendly, helpful, and advised me well. Especially since I was taking a route that was not signposted, and the arrival gate I was looking for wasn't labelled. That's a positive for this thread, I believe. My experience of other airports has been mixed.
I’m sorry TK (assumption) didn’t treat you right in IST.
EK has its own approach. In the first instance, as indicated by DYKWIA and Will08, EK will offload, rebook and notify as soon as possible. If EK think you can make the connection, but it is still tight, then typically you’ll be met by ground staff on arrival at DXB and escorted to the next gate to make the flight, as was already stated earlier in this thread.
So if you’re not rebooked, and no one meets you, then there should be sufficient allowance for those unfamiliar with DXB Terminal 3 to make their flight with a few wrong turns. I’m sure EK make mistakes, but those will be the exception, not the norm.
What do you think EK (or any airline)
should be doing in these scenarios? Airline ops don’t always go according to plan, and airports are getting bigger all the time, but can’t think what more EK can do.
