i think just to add to the above, think of current membership year total and lifetime total as two separate columns. when crediting flights, the tps get added to both columns and accumulate over time. at the end of your current membership year, the total in the current membership year gets reset to zero, but the lifetime doesn't.
... and realistically the OP can totally ignore the lifetime column for now. If they maintain their current trajectory of ~50 TPs per year, they will be on track to achieve Gold for Life in 694 years' time, probably no need to set a calendar reminder...
