The beaches in Canggu aren't stellar in the first place and Bali isn't a super beach place in itself either (some nicer ones way up north) like the Caribbean or so. Keep in mind that this area gained popularity as a surfer place many years ago and it went from there (a bit hyped and now overpriced in my view, but each to their own).
